Landscaping

I know to everyone else it may not look like much, but this is a big improvement over what was here before. Sadly, in base housing, most of the houses don't have much in the way of landscaping. Ours had some tree looking things I couldn't name, some azeala's, and some roses I didn't know how to take care of.

Landscaping on base is really quite cheap, which is why I don't understand why people don't do more. Even if we are just renting, we are going to be here a while, and it is nice to feel like your house looks nice. We went to the lawn and garden place to get some very nice, very affordable plants. We moved some existing plants, and planted the new ones, then went half a mile away to the maintenance warehouse where we got a truckload of cedar mulch for free!

I am going to plant more flowers when it warms up, and the tree in the corner is a magnolia, and looks like it is going have some beautiful blooms!
This is where the unidentifiable tree things were before, along with some bulbs. Now there are plants that will bloom, along with the bulbs which I spread out, and placed between the green bushes.

Amy, your present

Ok Amy. I meant to make this more green....and it ended up more purple. And I will understand if you don't really like it cause I know we sometimes have different tastes....which is why I am posting this instead of just sending it. So just let me know if you want it or not....if not I'll keep it! I like it....

I love the idea of this project. I found it on this blog while I was image searching for birds for my fabric wall art (if you want to find this post, look under "Something to Make"). This one was meant for a nursery, and I probably wouldn't do quite those colors if I did something like that, but their nursery was meant to have those.

I will definitely do this sometime soon. They said they just bought a collage picture frame where the matting is already like that, and the rest is obvious. Fun, eh?

You can see how well it works in this room, even though you can't see the whole room.

Latest Stuff

This is the magnet board I made a few weeks ago. I love it - I just wish it was bigger.

Cute little magnets...

And this is the fabric wall art I'm working on right now. It's almost done. I'm debating adding a knot in the tree trunk, and whether I should put wings on the birds or not.

If I did wings, they would look like this, but it would have to be a darker fabric. That fabric just doesn't stand out enough. I was originally planning on wings but I kind of really like just the silhouettes. Oh, and Mike thinks I should add bowties and make it looks like the birds are wearing tuxedos. What do you guys think about the wings and the knot? And the bowties, I guess.

Pancakes!

Mom made us Moose and Star pancakes this morning with the molds I got for Christmas. Awesome, huh?

Here is the hutch/desk while we were working on it. You can kinda see part of the newly painted wall in the background.
